1. Level (Type) of work:

PhD thesis.

2. Topic:

Structural investigations of nanodiamonds.

3. Work objective:

Determination of nanodiamond structure, including nanodiamond powders and their liquid dispersions. Revealing of dependence of structural parameters on parameters of preparation.

4. Short description:

Nanodiamonds are a promising material, which starts to be actively used in modern technologies. The characteristic size of crystallites (of the order of 10 nm) ensures high dispersivity of powders and liquid dispersions of nanodiamonds. Wide possibilities in modifying the active surface determine great interest to such materials. The work is intended to be a study of the influence of preparation parameters of various systems containing nanodiamonds on the final parameters of the structure, including the size of particles and their polydispersity, non-diamond superficial shell thickness, correlation lengths in particle clusters under various conditions. The main research techniques are the small-angle neutron and X-ray (sunchrotron) scattering.
