2. Topic: Modernization of a chopper control system at the IBR-2 spectrometers. Choppers with rotation rates of 75 rpm and lower.

 

3. Work objective: Incorporation of a motor shaft position sensor (encoder) into a chopper control system to increase the accuracy of control over the chopper phase at a slow speed.

 

4. Short description: At a slow speed, i.e. at 75 rpm and lower, the accuracy of control over the chopper phase is lower, than at a higher speed. To improve accuracy, one should have information not only on the motor shaft phase, but also on the position of the chopper shaft within one revolution. To obtain these data, encoders are used.

 

It is necessary to program microcontroller M167-2:

· to process pulses from the encoder;

· as a PID regulator using feedback from encoder pulses.

 

5. Required skills and knowledge: It is desirable to have an idea about microcontrollers (for example, Siemens C167). Programming in Assembler or C+ for microcontrollers. Asynchronous motors.
